There's zero reason to believe that the functional, utilitarian, and practical robots of the immediate and far future will look anything like us. They won't need eyes like we have, limbs like we have, heads or torsos or organs like we have.

The anthropomorphism so prevalent in robotics, both conceptual and realized, reveals a crippling humanocentricity in even the topmost minds in the arts and sciences. Until we can escape the belief that perfected humanism is the pinnacle towards which we strive, we will never truly nor fully evolve.
