Soothe

Sunlight, dust, and plastic cage
ensnared by shag
red infant rage.
"Shut that kid up!"

A stuffed walrus,
mother-crafted,
a gift between us.

I do not recognize the animal.
Wisdomless,
I slip it inside my mewling mouth.
Quiet suckle, and the doorbell takes her away.
