Rendezvous with Rama

I last read this over twenty years ago, and couldn't recall the bigamy and other ideas Clarke had about marital and extra-marital relationships. Such writing is thrown in sharp contrast to the very hard, sometimes dry and precise science fiction he'd created.

The descriptive work inside Rama still holds up, though, and for a novel of ponderous pacing that lacked—for me—any kind of dramatic punch it's still an interesting look at a first contact event in a future colonized version of our solar system.
